State of Our Ocean

On January 12th, eee partnered once again with Ocean Champions to produce the State of our Oceans. The purpose of this event was to share the current political landscape as it relates to the ocean. Dr. David Wilmot, Founder and President of Ocean Champions gave the keynote address and shared policy opportunities and ideas as to how the overall ocean conservation community can together achieve victories through coordinated efforts and strategic campaigns.

Philippe Cousteau (my Climate Reality Mentor) gave a powerful presentation and   Senator Mark Begich followed with a fascinating and informative speech. Board member, ocean activist and founder of HDX Hydration Mix, Vipe Desai was the host of the evening and Angela Sun, journalist and documentarian warmed the crowd with her heartfelt words.

Instead of a Step and Repeat, guests were met by a Swim and Repeat that had divers holding wooden signage with the event hashtag #VoteTheOcean then allowed access to the private galleries for cocktails and nibbles and just before the seated dinner and program, the pop up penguins made a rare appearance. What a way to start the new year!
